Fall fashion knit –Dagmar sweatercable knit sweater with a twist.

You have seen it everywhere – the fisherman’s sweater with fanciful cable knits. I was going to make one for this fall, but wondered what if I moved the cable patterns across the bodice, instead of the traditional straight-up cables? It turned out that with a simple trick in the pattern, it’s actually not that hard. The cables then follow the raglan sleeve decreases, to form a natural curve around the body – lengthwise.

I also knitted a high-low hem – a curved hem that is shorter at front, to accentuate the cable curves. Knitting short rows may sound intimidating – but it’s not at all difficult using a wrap-and-turn technique, which I explain in the pattern.

For background, I used a textured pattern of garter/rib stitches as a nice contrast of the cable patterns. Simple, yet it works surprisingly well!

Put on this cozy, warm, and chic sweater, super-slim jeans, ankle boots and a parka, and I’m ready for fall! 🙂
