You know, older romances have problems but damn if they didn’t turn heroes into groveling fools. It’s such fun to watch them crawl out of the mess of their own mistakes.

You don’t get that in more recently published romances. Everyone has to be A Reasonable Adult.

YES! Maybe it’s because I grew up with old school romances but sometimes I just WANT. A MAN. TO. CRAWL.

Possibly that’s projecting my aggression, but what can I say? Men make me angry, and society tells me I can’t be angry. So I like to read about men who actually realize they were wrong, feel BAD about the stupid shit they did, then – *gasp* make a genuine, determined effort to change and to make reparation for their failings. 

So yeah, I like heroes that are accountable and responsible and steady – but sometimes I also like a little pain and suffering before HE gets his happily ever after. 

/rant.
