Kwan Yin
To me, in terms of living traditions, my image of The Daughter is definitely closest to Kwan Yin, Bodhisattva of Compassion. I see a lot of Her in Jesus as well, especially when it comes to the Passion and the teachings, but in terms of general essence and feeling and how I imagine Her if I pictured Her and who I feel most comfortable addressing by name in prayer, Kwan Yin is my top choice.
Kwan Yin, Tara and Mary Magdalene are definitely my top three images when it comes to picturing The Holy Daughter.
i did an important art project today
Design is available here! Just print out on 8.5×11″ paper, cut along the gray lines, paint the back of the paper with craft glue (i used Mod Podge) and wrap it around a plain glass pillar candle. Voila: your very own secular and/or idolatrous Space Mom candle! Please remember that Carrie Fisher’s dad was Jewish every time you look at it, cause, you know.
The best thing I’ve see so far this year.

Oooohhhh
So this has been stuck in my head ever since I heard it three days ago.
this is the polar opposite of Everybody Knows Shits Fucked
I don’t remember where I saw the post, but someone once made a very good point about how reproductive autonomy is not tied to one’s genetic relationship to the fetus.
If I, a woman, donate eggs for another woman, who then has them fertilized by her partner’s sperm, I have no say in whether or not she chooses to terminate that pregnancy later on after implantation. Yes, I would be that child’s biological mother, but it isn’t my body that will go through the process of pregnancy, and therefore my input would be irrelevant.
So far no dude I told this to has been able to justify why they thought they, as the father, should have a say in what their hypothetically-pregnant partner chooses to do.
Nature did not distribute the reproductive burden equally between men and women and our legislation on reproductive issues needs to take this into account.
